Today, on the International Day of Women and Girls in Science<\/a><\/strong>, we proudly celebrate the achievements and contributions of women in science, technology, and engineering around the globe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This year holds special significance as we mark the 10th anniversary of this important day, recognizing the critical role women and girls play in driving scientific innovation and progress.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At SERB, we’re committed to fostering an inclusive environment where women in science can thrive. We\u2019re excited to spotlight one of our own inspiring scientists, Alexandra (Alex) Tabbitt, who recently shared her journey with the trade magazine Pharmaceutical Technology<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alex graduated in 2023 with first-class honours in Forensic Investigation, cultivating a passion for toxicology. Now a Band 2 Quality Control Microbiologist with SERB Pharmaceuticals, Alex is actively involved in improvement projects, technical investigations, hypothesis testing, and report writing. She credits her growth to strong mentorship, hands-on experiences, and a workplace that champions continuous learning and development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Reflecting on her path, Alex emphasizes the importance of early STEM engagement for girls:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n

\u201cI was most engaged by the practical side of my studies \u2013 the experiments and the chance to see science in action. Perhaps more could be done to link classroom learning to its real-world significance.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Her story highlights how curiosity, mentorship, and opportunities for growth can inspire the next generation of women leaders in science.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Let\u2019s continue to break barriers and build a future where every girl who dreams of becoming a scientist has the support and resources to achieve it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
